The All-Rounder Toolbox

If you want to focus purely on improving your playing, I can absolutely help you get there.

But guitar can also be your gateway to something much bigger. The most successful modern players don't just play. They write for drums, bass, and synths. They record, mix, and master their own music, and they film and edit high-quality video to build an audience. Those all-rounder skills are what turn a great player into a genuine creative powerhouse.

With a background in media study at JMC Academy and years of real-world production experience, I have built those professional skills from the ground up. I want to pass them on to you.

This is what I call The Toolbox. It is the specific set of skills that grants you complete creative freedom to turn any sound in your head into a finished track coming out of your speakers.

If you just want to track your progress and record your playing at a professional level, we can do that. If you want the whole toolbox to take a bedroom riff all the way to a polished release, let's build it together.

Who I am

My name is Dan, I began playing guitar quite early in life and was self taught. While I had some lessons here and there I didn't learn much from them. I was taught some very basic stuff but never given the KEYS to developing as a musician, which is ironically enough, autonomous learning. The blueprint to effective practice and learning when to zoom in and focus, and when to move on to the next thing and stay productive and keep momentum.

As a teenager, I would spend hours every single day playing guitar, but looking back, I didn't actually improve much over that time. Because I wasn't applying myself correctly or locking in to fix bad habits I had built up over the years, my progress completely stalled. While I could play fast and 'shred,' my versatility ended with metal. I was limited in the techniques I used, my routine wasn't structured for genuine growth, and my ability to write music was stuck in a box. My wheels were spinning but I was stuck in the mud.

The turning point came when I found a guitarist on Instagram who is still my favourite player to this day. I reached out to him, managed to secure private lessons for a few years, and it completely changed my trajectory.

Now, I'm at a point with my songwriting and musical ability where I'm mostly satisfied, yet I still have that constant itch to improve. Proper tuition is truly the best way to get where you want to be with anything, and I would say that is especially true with music. My goal now with Ascend Tuition is to give you that exact same breakthrough, stripping away the guesswork so you can stop spinning your wheels and finally level up your playing.
